Hi everyone!

I’m working on an EX engagement survey that includes a large number of open-ended questions — 33 in total — and I’m looking for the best way to analyze and display this data in a Qualtrics dashboard.

Previously, we had a simple setup with:

  • A response ticker

  • A word cloud

  • An emotion distribution in a pizza widget

This worked fine when we had only a few open text questions. But now, with so many, we've hit the widget limit in Qualtrics, and it's no longer practical to create separate visualizations for each question. On top of that, I feel this approach doesn't provide deep insights — it’s more of a visual placeholder than a useful analysis tool.

I’m wondering if anyone here has faced a similar challenge and could share:

  • How you handled large volumes of open-text responses in your dashboards

  • Any best practices or creative ways to summarize, group, or analyze the comments

  • Tips for making the dashboard more insightful and action-oriented, rather than just showing raw or surface-level text analysis

Any advice or examples would be much appreciated!

Hi ​@Erikahuer!  There is a widget limit?? Lol I haven’t hit that yet but don’t think I’ve had any pages with 99+ widgets.  I recently had a bunch of widgets for our main open text questions (themes, sentiment, horizontal bar charts for actionability, emotion, etc., plus the ticker) but slimmed it down to just a horizontal bar with the topics and a ticker, as part of a broader effort to reduce the volume of info shared with the managers.  In your case, I’d wonder if just using the response ticker would be “good enough”?

Also, I’d wonder if that widget limit is per page.  If so, maybe splitting them between two or more pages would work, maybe organized by theme.  Hope that helps!

I will check if i can reduce the amount of widgets or break in pages

You can use word cloud and vertical/ horizontal bar charts to keep it simple. You can display the response ticker widget where necessary.

 

And If all your 33 open text question are similar you can export and import topics from one question to another, it would be time saving.
