JSON payload sunset | XM Community

Hi Community!

Today I discovered that the JSON payload trigger functionality in Qualtrics is going to be deprecated. This means Qualtrics is phasing out this feature, and I will need to transition to alternative methods for triggering surveys and integrating with external systems. Which functionality do you recommend or find similar to the one I was using, where I created XMD contact and distributed surveys after receiving a JSON payload through a single API call?

current distribution tree in a stand-alone workflow

I need to replace the first step, as the message in that step is unclear and does not provide any guidance on what to do.

Your guidance and help is much appreciated.

Hi @jcalderon146

If you don’t mind, could you share your source for this depreciation announcement? We’re using JSON events to trigger workflows in multiple licenses and I haven’t see any communications regarding this.

Thanks,

@jcalderon146 -- Thanks for your post on this topic. Let me see if I can find some clarifying information to add here and get back to you. Thanks in advance for your patience while I look into this!

@jcalderon146 -- I spoke with the team, and we think this is a licensing or permissions issue. JSON functionality is *not* being deprecated.

The error message you are seeing says "Contact your Qualtrics admin to install this extension,” so it seems like API permissions might just be turned off.

We have a support page linked here that might be of use. From the support page:

"JSON Events are only available to users who have purchased access to the Qualtrics API. If you are interested in getting this feature, talk to your Account Executive or Account Services."

Hope this helps!

Thanks @Michael_Cooksey for your response. It's strange that we received this message and that it might be related to licensing permissions, as we have been using this functionality for over a year without any issues. I apologize for the misunderstanding; when I requested support, that was the answer they provided, and I wanted more guidance. Just to confirm, the functionality of creating XMD contacts and distributing surveys after receiving a JSON payload is not going to be deprecated, correct?

Also, I will contact our account executive. Thanks again for your support and guidance.

@jcalderon146 Thanks for the additional information and context. I was told that this functionality is not going away; but I will double confirm with the team now on the use case you outlined here. As soon as I hear more, I will let you know.

We've been using JSON across multiple licenses and projects, as it's been the simplest and most efficient way to handle integrations. I just checked everywhere and I don’t see this message about getting depreciated.
Kind of confused wether it’s getting depreciated or not.

@jcalderon146 and @Sachin Nandikol -- I got confirmation that JSON events are not being deprecated. I also got this clarification from my internal contacts (see below). I am wondering if this helps clarify?

We are deprecating a product feature called "XMD Automations" - which is a tab inside Directories. XMD Automations is being replaced by "Workflows," which has very similar functionality and features. I'm wondering if the client is confusing the XMD Automation with Workflows using XMD tasks?”

@jcalderon146 -- Thoughts on the above?
